Porter-Gaud School is an independent, co-educational day school of 980 students in grades 1 – 12 across three divisions. The Lower School division has an opening for a full-time Lower School Spanish Language Teacher for grades one through four.
Broad Responsibilities
●Create a learning environment that encourages a love of learning and respect for others.
●Introduce the Spanish language to students in grades 1-4 using established curriculum guidelines.
●Develop curriculum to enhance appreciation of Spanish culture and language.
●Inspire curiosity about and appreciation for Spanish culture through age appropriate activities.
●Employ a variety of instructional techniques and assessments which address multiple learning styles.
●Participate as an active member of the Lower School faculty as well as the Lower School community as a whole.
●Work ably with World Language faculty in grades 1-12.
●Communicate effectively with all constituents within the school community.
Personal Attributes
●Appreciate and enjoy interacting with elementary age students and partnering with their teachers and families in their student's overall development.
●Show evidence of organization, punctuality, and self-motivation.
●Exhibit an ability to work effectively with the grade level teams within the Lower School and with other Spanish teachers across divisions.
●Show evidence of effective communication and interaction with all constituencies within the School.
The successful candidate will have:
●A Bachelor's or advanced degree from an accredited college or university, preferably with a degree or certification in field.
●High proficiency in the Spanish language and fluency in English.
●Teaching experience in elementary education, preferably.
●Related teaching experience, preferably in independent schools.
Reporting: The Lower School Spanish Teacher reports directly to the Head of Lower School.
Salary: Commensurate with experience.
