"Forgiveness is not an occasional act, it is a permanent attitude."
-Martin Luther King
During the month of March, our virtues focus will be on the character trait of Forgiveness. Forgiveness is giving someone another chance after they have done something wrong, knowing that everyone makes mistakes. It is making amends instead of taking revenge. It is also important to forgive yourself. When we forgive ourselves, we stop punishing ourselves for our mistakes. Forgiveness is moving ahead, ready to act differently, with compassion for yourself and faith that you can change.
We practice forgiveness when we...
- Remember that everyone makes mistakes
- Take responsibility for our own mistakes
- Share our feelings without taking revenge
- Accept people without judgement or criticism
- Make amends instead of punishing ourselves with guilt

Wax Museum
The third grade created a "live wax museum" this week with all of the students dressed as famous South Carolinians. The event was part of their year-long study of our state. Guests pushed a button and saw the character come to life and share his/her biography. What a fantastic way for the students to demonstrate all they have learned about these important figures in our state's history.
Introduction to Forgiveness
Father Richard, Father Brian, and Mrs. Sanders (Middle School Counselor) helped us introduce the virtue of forgiveness this week. They role played to share the importance of forgiving one another.

Artist Astronomers
Artist-astronomers in Artful Space Science (after-school program) created constellations (Orion and Draco the Dragon) using tumbled glass, while learning the myths behind the shapes and how to spot them in our night sky. These will be full-fused in the kiln and will become part of a set of constellation coasters.
